On September 1st 2006, thai mobile phone numbers switched from 9 to 10 digits. The change was done by adding the number 8 after the inital zero. Examples: 01 => 081 +661 => +6681 Between September 1st and November 30th, callers dial either the old 9 digits number or the new 10 digits one. After that transition period, only the 10 digits one could be used.
