If you do not recharge your New Zealand SIM card account within 12 months of initial use, your New Zealand SIM card and international phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeited. Every time you add additional airtime to your New Zealand SIM card the validity of your New Zealand SIM chip will be extended for another 12 months.
Your New Zealand mobile phone number is displayed on the printed packaging that contains your New Zealand SIM card. Your New Zealand phone number begins with 021. Callers dialling your New Zealand cellular phone from the USA would need to dial 011 64 (the country code for New Zealand) and drop the zero, and dial the rest of the number.
To start using your service simply:
- Travel to New Zealand
- Set your cell phone to the GSM 900/1800 frequency
- Be sure the battery on your international cell phone is charged
- Insert the New Zealand SIM chip into the cellular phone*
- Turn on your phone
- Dial 777 and choose your plan (see above for a complete description of the available plans). After you choose your plan your SIM will be activated and you can start calling.

Customer service for your Vodaphone prepaid SIM card is available by dialing 777 at any time from your cellular phone. Customer service can also be reached by dialing 0800 800 021 from any other phone within New Zealand.
To call abroad from your New Zealand cell phone simply dial 00 (or '+') followed by the country code and phone number.
Your New Zealand SIM card includes an initial airtime credit of $12. Additional credit is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers, also called reload cards (not another New Zealand SIM card). These New Zealand airtime vouchers are available in the following denominations:
Once you have purchased your New Zealand reload voucher, simply scratch off the gray protective layer to reveal your 12 digit voucher number. Dial 777 followed by the 12 digit voucher code and and the * key. Confirm by punching the number 1 on your phone. The reload on your New Zealand SIM chip is now complete. When punched into the keypad of your international cell phone, the voucher code will credit your New Zealand SIM card with the respective denomination that you purchased.
To check the balance of your New Zealand SIM card, simply dial 777 and press [SEND]. Your balance will apear in the display on your GSM world cell phone.
